Well, I can't believe it's true, but my little tradition turns TWENTY this year! Every year since 2005, I've recorded a holiday song to share as a gift to friends and family, and this is my twentieth carol! Thank you to all the friends and family who have been here with me this whole time, and hooray for the new friends I have made along the way! I am thankful I get to mark the years and walk this road with you.
This year, I have so much to be grateful for as I'm celebrating my first Christmas as a mother! After a long fertility journey, my husband Feodor and I welcomed our beautiful son Montana in June via the gift of surrogacy. So this season, I celebrate that gift with Count Your Blessings by Irving Berlin, a favorite song from the holiday classic White Christmas.
I recorded this song with long-time friends and collaborators Zach Bardon (on piano) and Nikolas Thompson (on bass, plus mix & mastering). And that's me singing all the parts to evoke a choir from the Hollywood golden era! My husband Feodor Chin drew the illustration of our son, and my sister-in-law Fedora Chen did the calligraphy.
